Shakunakhar
Karm Geet are the songs, sung at various rituals in Kumaon region. Style and tone of these songs may vary from region to region. Shakunakhar is the "Shagun ke Akshar" sung during mangal kaaj. Shakunakhar or Shakunakshar is mainly sung in every ritual. It is sung in starting of holy work.
Generally women used to sing these songs. In Kumauni these ladies are known as "GIDARI". When any karm or sanskaar takes place at home the main ladies Gidari, for the ritual songs, are called similar to Bramhin.
Some of various rituals and karms are:
1) Naamkaran
2) Yagyopaweet
3) Vivah
4) Navgrah Poojan
5) Grih Pravesh
6) Satyanarayan Katha
etc.
